Imagen
I know few people in my field. However, Professor Claudio Donoso Zegers has achieved great things in Chile, I didn’t get to know him, but a bit of his history. He was a great forestry engineer from the University of Chile, he won awards such as, for example, the Luis Oyarzún award, from the Austral University of Chile, recognition from CONAF and the Ministry of Agriculture for his work on the native forest, recognition for his trajectory by the College of Forest Engineers of Chile and several universities. His contributions are mainly in the scientific area of deep knowledge of the native forests of Chile and his personal commitment to protect them, through teaching and multiple written works where he transmitted the knowledge. Finally, the respect for his students, way of teaching, affable character, determination and principles, made him a man very loved by the people around him and motivated different generations to follow in his footsteps.

Post 6: How can your mayor make the world a better place?

Forest engineering is a career that provides many services for the planet. This creates a better world due to the contribution of the development of different areas such as protection and conservation of the biodiversity of flora and fauna species, ecological systems, forest areas and even degraded soils. They work with multiple professionals, teamwork is essential in this area, so interpersonal relationships are present at all times, generating spaces to learn, grow and develop in different areas, not only the professional. I plan to be part of the development of this area and contribute through it to the care of the planet, thanks to the tools delivered throughout the university career, not only by teachers, but also by partners and all those people who are part of the process.

My Favorite Piece of Technology

Imagen
Every time I need to make a reminder, an alarm, watch a video, or search something in google, I use my phone. It is the piece of technology that I use the most and it's my favorite. This is because of the variety of applications that cover my necessities and practical that it is. I use how a complement in my daily life, for example, I use the stopwatch and timer to cook, music when I take a bath, the calendar to organize my week, pay my bills, play games, learn, etc. It being a complement it is a help, however, it is a double-edged because it can be a great distraction when doing homework, due to the multiple entertainment applications like Instagram or tik tok. I totally recommend it, but applying limits for that it's use doesn't negatively impact when doing the tasks hahaha.

Why did I choose my major?

Imagen
When I was a child I did’t think about what I could work, I did’t have an interest in something specific, however, I liked the activities of the detectives and the wisdom of the scientists. On the other hand, I only applied to a degree in forestry engineering. It was days of reflection connecting my tastes, interests and what I wanted for the future. But the memory of visits to places full of nature and my love for science helped me choose this way. When I entered to the university, I felt a great wave of new experiences, being in constant academic challenge, as the level is very high. But if I had to describe it in two words, I would say that it is a beautiful and challenging experience. In the future I would love to work around scientific development, but I would also like to take a lot of steps for other areas of forestry.

Hello everybody! My name is Matías, I'm writing this post from a desk in Castro, Chiloé ... For everyone a magical and very beautiful place, but after living here for several years, I just want to go to Santiago and enjoy everything what it has. I live with my mom, but currently I live the independent life of an adult ... And I will not lie to you, I thought it would be more fun, although it has some advantages hahaha. The rest of my family lives in other parts of Chile, I love them and sometimes I visit them. I like to do various things, play video games, watch documentaries and series, improvise on the piano, all kinds of sports, but my great love is volleyball and my guilty pleasure is bread hahaha. That's all for today, see you next time, have a nice weekend!
