I know few people in my field. However, Professor Claudio Donoso Zegers has achieved great things in Chile, I didn’t get to know him, but a bit of his history. He was a great forestry engineer from the University of Chile, he won awards such as, for example, the Luis Oyarzún award, from the Austral University of Chile, recognition from CONAF and the Ministry of Agriculture for his work on the native forest, recognition for his trajectory by the College of Forest Engineers of Chile and several universities. His contributions are mainly in the scientific area of deep knowledge of the native forests of Chile and his personal commitment to protect them, through teaching and multiple written works where he transmitted the knowledge. Finally, the respect for his students, way of teaching, affable character, determination and principles, made him a man very loved by the people around him and motivated different generations to follow in his footsteps.

Forest engineering is a career that provides many services for the planet. This creates a better world due to the contribution of the development of different areas such as protection and conservation of the biodiversity of flora and fauna species, ecological systems, forest areas and even degraded soils. They work with multiple professionals, teamwork is essential in this area, so interpersonal relationships are present at all times, generating spaces to learn, grow and develop in different areas, not only the professional. I plan to be part of the development of this area and contribute through it to the care of the planet, thanks to the tools delivered throughout the university career, not only by teachers, but also by partners and all those people who are part of the process.
